The Committee recommended that the offices of City Surveyor, Building Surveyor, Clerk of Works and Inspector of Waste Water be abolished; that the City be divided into four Districts and that each district have appointed a "Building Surveyor for District No -" [District Surveyor] who would perform for that district the tasks currently spread among the four offices to be abolished; that the salary of each new office be £250. Report was adopted with some amendments including the appointment of the present City Surveyor as District Surveyor No 1 at his present salary. Appended: Memo from Town Clerk to Mayor establishing the Committee; Notations on the back of the memo summarising the Committee's recommendations including the note that the District Surveyors be "under the control of the City Engineer".LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
