G. Melros and whether other works of a similar nature have been performed. Committee found that: the curbing and guttering were unauthorised but on the correct line; that although encroachment by Hyndes' buildings was alleged by Messrs Wilshire, Titterton, Hill and Paton, none of these attended to give evidence; in regard to Mr Hyndes' buildings at the corners of George and Sussex Streets, there was no encroachment on George Street but 9 feet encroachment on Sussex Street; in regard to the Sussex Street encroachment, the street had been proclaimed partly on Mr Hyndes' land and he had claimed compensation which had not been granted; no blame attached to Mr Hyndes' in relation to the curbing and guttering in Druitt Street or to the erection of the buildings; the City Surveyor knew of no other similar works except Mr Brown's encroachment in Spring Street now before the Council and Mr Morris's encroachment in Bourke Street now in the hands of the Legislative Council.
