Unique IDA-000434233SeriesCommittee ReportsParentCSA112121DateBetween 4th September 1899 and 24th October 1899FormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionReport of the Works Committee 10 October 1899 recommending that the footway of Wilshire St from Esther to Charles Sts be kerbed and guttered; that the footway at the corner of College and William Streets be altered cost to be borne by the Trustees of the Australian Museum and the roadway be widened; that the gateway entrances to Messrs Lassetter &Co's new premises be paved; that the gully fronting 21 Hill St be relocated; that a large lamp be erected at the corner of Elizabeth and Liverpool Sts; that the plans and sections of a street and lane, extending from Collins St to Foveaux St, proposed to be handed over by Mr Sydney Burdekin, be approved and, after forming and ballasting, the street and lane be taken over as public ways; that the urinal in Riley St near the corner of Devonshire St be removed; that the Band Stand Wynyard Park be painted; that the footway fronting 708 to 712 George Street be paved; that in lieu of Market Street Metal Wharf, recently resumed by the government, arrangements be made for the delivery of metal at the Blackwattle Bay wharf and the Bathurst St wharves; that the tender of Messrs Wilmott and Morgan for woodpaving Harris St from John St to Union St be accepted. Appended: Memo that papers re footway fronting Lassetter's new premises George and York Sts are "out"; Letters from S Sinclair, Secretary to the Trustees of the Australian Museum concerning the footpath and City Surveyor's Minute Paper; Letter from Mrs E Mottram, 1 Esther St, Surry Hills, requesting kerbing and guttering as carts turning into Wilshire Street have been continually destroying her fence which she is about to renew; Letter from T Connelley, Drynan St Summer Hill, complaining of stench from gulley in front of his property in Hill St Surry Hills; Letter from the Office of the Railway Commissioners Sydney stating that a powerful lamp at the corner of Elizabeth and Liverpool Sts will not be needed in their opinion in view of the improvements being carried out; Letter from Sydney Burdekin and Minute Paper by City Surveyor relating to proposed new public ways; Pencilled note signed John Norton that urinal in Riley St be removed; Memo from City Building Surveyor reporting on repairs to the roof of the Band Stand in Wynyard Reserve and the need for painting the woodwork of the Stand; Memo from the City Surveyor costing repairs to the footway of George St nos 708 - 712; Memo from the City Surveyor suggesting use of Blackwattle Bay Wharf and Bathurst St Wharves for delivery of metal for streets with plan of proposed addition of a platform between the jetties at the end of Bathurst St. LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
