An advertisement for the Dark Yankee Doodle brand features a representation of Archibald M Willards famous painting The Sprirt of 76 (aka Yankee Doodle), which depicts the American War of Independence (information provided by Phil Cuskelly in February 2014). Posters advertise a building materials sale, together with an Intercolonial cricket match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Workmen stand in the foreground, one reading the advertising material.
