Unique IDA-000434212SeriesCommittee ReportsParentCSA112120DateBetween 2nd April 1896 and 29th August 1899FormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionReport of the Works Committee 8 August 1899 recommending that Harris St from Union St be wood blocked and tenders be called; that Barker St be paved with blue stone cubes on sand; that the intersections of Pitt and Goulburn Sts and Castlereagh and Goulburn Sts be paved with cube setts; that a Special Committee be appointed to enquire into the levels of George and Harris Sts as affected by the construction of the electric tramway; that certain accounts be recommended to the Finance Committee for payment including that of JH Merriman for night sittings at the Phippard arbitration. Appended: Memo from City Surveyor recommending the repair of Harris Street on each side of the tramline between Miller and John Sts; Memo between the Town Clerk and City Surveyor with costs for wood blocking Harris Street; Letter from the Under Secretary & Commissioner for Roads, Robert Hickson, Public Works Department, refusing to share costs of repairing Harris St; Memo Town Clerk & City Surveyor re Barker St; Memo City Surveyor re Pitt, Goulburn and Castlereagh Sts; Printed "Return of Correspondence etc in the matter of the construction of the George Street and Harris Street Electric Tramway by the Government" printed by the Works Committee of 16 May 1899 with correspondence between Council and Government from April 1896 to June 1899.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
