Unique IDA-000502933SeriesPetitions to CouncilParentCSA044318Date30th September 1844FormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionPetition from the undersigned Masons, in the employ of the Corporation, who, as the customary practise whereby the Corporation pays the expense of re-steeling their picks has lately been discontinued, are now subject to the expense of keeping their tools in proper working order, amounting to, on average, about one shilling and sixpence per week, while the wages they receive are subject to considerable deduction for wet weather, entreating the Corporation to revert to the old system, under which this expense was borne by the Corporation, and to modify the practice of making deductions from wages on account of broken time due to wet weather.
