Two storey and single storey brick and iron roof dwellings, set below street level and having adjoining chimneys. Two workmen are demolishing the roof of number 63 on the left, which has an arched delivery bay, and two men pose with a group of chinese children beside the wooden picket fence of numbers 59-61. Number 63 had several Chinese tenants. In 1891 it was Heing Shup's grocery store, in 1900 it was home to a Chinese family and by 1909 it still had Chinese residents. Building on the right is the Newmarket Hotel and the building on the left at 65-67 is the Church of Christ city temple.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
