In May 1873 the Transit Commissioners wrote to Council seeking money paid to Council for licenses of vehicles to be passed to them.
As late as 2 October 1873 the Metropolitan Transit Commissioners were asking Council to appoint Mr Oram as Inspector of Public Vehicles under their By Laws for the remainder of the present year (without salary) in order to prevent a great public inconvenience arising through Mr Oram not being legally qualified to produce evidence in cases where licenses have been issued for public vehicles by the Corporation. Council replied it had no power to comply with the request. [CRS 11/6].
On 6 May 1875 the Finance Committee requested the City Solicitor to draft a bill to repeal the Public Vehicles Regulation Act and draft a new bill for the regulation of Public Vehicles. [CRS 11/7]. CreationSydney Corporation Act 1842, s93.
