(Note: City Surveyor: CHW. The present contract of Mr Hadkins ("Leggat & Hadkins") is for the supply of 5,000 tons of unbroken stone @ 7/10d per ton. This commenced on Sept 23rd 1879, and nearly the whole quantity is now delivered. I do not think that it would be advisable to commit the Council to receive so large a quantity of unbroken stone as that named in this offer; viz. ten thousand tons, as the broken stone is more used.
