The Association consisted of ratepayers interested in the welfare of the borough. The Association’s purpose, as documented in the minutes, was to watch for the interests of ratepayers, select suitable candidates for Aldermanic duties and to prevent the squandering of Municipal funds.

The discussions documented in the minute book related to street / road conditions, health and safety risks within the municipality, sewage, earth closets, cess pits, future Municipal elections & candidates, kerbing & guttering, resumption of land, town planning, Council funds, footpaths, asphalting, and public nuisances.

The final meeting documented within the volume was held on 27 May 1886. The minutes of this meeting record the proposal of a discussion regarding the Association’s future. No further minutes were documented within this volume after 27 May 1886.

This volume was not indexed.

This series consists of one leather bound minute book and an enclosed publication entitled “Rules and Standing Orders of the Paddington Ratepayer’s Association” (1883). The rules and standing orders were adopted at the meeting of 6 December 1883.
