Unique IDAS-0066Start date1st January 1933End date1st January 1940FormatPhotograph - AlbumDescriptionThe records in this series were the photographs collected by the City Engineer's Department depicting the proposed reconstruction of Martin Place, and Circular Quay.

The first album contained photographs of Martin Place taken by Milton Kent (the photographer who was responsible for the images in CRS 51, Demolition Books). They were taken in January 1933 and include aerial and ground level shots. The prints depicted the area where Martin Place was to be extended from Castlereagh Street to Macquarie Street.

The second album contained photographs of the Circular Quay replanning from 1938-1940. The images included the construction of the tunnel under Upper Fort Street, the retaining wall at the Bradfield Highway, the Open Cut (Circular Cut or Spiral Road), Observatory Park and King George V Memorial Park. The proposed replanning was marked on the prints in red.
