WASTE BOOK 1 April 1881 - 15 June 1883
A waste book is used to enter all transactions at the moment they occur and later they may be placed into a more formal set of books. The entries are arranged in chronological order and are recorded as a single page entry. The information is recorded in columns under the following headings: number, name, city, water streets, water, sewerage. The amount of expenditure is added at the end of each day. The entries are recorded daily. (Item 41/3)

The volume records the application number (a single running number from 1888 to 1924); applicant's name and address; folio number; amount; when paid; and initials. Most of the applicants appear to be architectural firms. The volume also notes arrears (money still owed) which are listed after the fees for the given year. It does not record the address of the proposed works.(Item 41/6)
CREDIT BOOK 29 February 1892 - 31 December 1901
Entries arranged by ward and then by date. The record is done on a yearly basis and is an analysis of unpaid city rates for a given year. The page is divided into two, the Credits and the Outstanding City Rates. The last entry for the year is signed and the Credits and Outstanding Rates are totalled. The Outstanding City Rates are noted at the end of the volume. (Item 41/7)
