The Council from time to time becomes involved in committees (such as the Sydney District Business Association) which have responsibilities overlapping with Council's own interests and strategies (such as encouraging retail activity in the central business district). The Council is also a member of various regional local government committees and joint undertakings. In some cases the Council provides services to such committees, such as secretarial suppport, or (more rarely) office accommodation and facilities, and even staff.
This includes committees which are nominally controlled by the Council (or under its patronage) but which include external membership, such as the various charitable aid committeess formed under the patrongae of the Lord Mayor / Lady Mayoress between 1914 and 1993.CreationFormation of the Lord Mayor's Patriotic Fund, 20 August 1914
