Works and Housing Committee

Unique IDAG-0049DescriptionUnder the Local Government (City of Sydney Boundaries) Act, 1981, South Sydney Municipal Council was amalgamated with the Council of the City of Sydney. CA 49, Works and Housing Committee, was one of the seven standing committees established during the first meeting of the expanded Sydney City Council on 4 January 1982.

The Committee had six members and was responsible for:
- acquisition and development of land or buildings for housing purposes
- engineering maintenance works and programs
- parking fees
- tenders and quotations
- investigating the availability of Commonwealth or State Government grants or
subsidies for housing purposes, in coordination with the Finance Committee
- all aspects of housing cooperatives
- Council's motor vehicles and associated facilities.

On 24 September the Committee was reorganised and renamed the Works Committee. Responsibility for public housing passed to CA 51, Properties and Housing Committee, 1984-1985.

On 16 September 1985 the Committee was amalgamated with CA 51, Properties and Housing Committee to become CA 50, Properties, Housing and Works Committee, 1985-1987.
