Provision of medical immunisation services to the community (particularly to babies and children) by the Council.
On 22 June 1936 the Minutes of the Health and By-Laws Commitee recorded that the City Health Officer had issued a report suggesting that the Lord Mayor "call a conference of representatives of the whole of the Local Authorities of the Metropolitan area, the Central Health Department and the British Medical Association, so that in the Metropolitan area of Sydney a comprehensive immunisation campaign" against diphtheria could be launched. Provision of an immunisation service by Council's own medical staff ceased with the abolition of CA 2, Medical Department, in 1993.
Further reserch is needed to determine if any alternative arrangement has been made for provision of an immunisation service, by an external service provider, since 1993.CreationRoC 8 August 1949, approving establishment of CA 2, Medical Department, with the provision of an immunisation service as a principal aim.
