Unique IDAG-0164DescriptionThe Sydney District Business Association was established at an inaugural meeting on 8 July 1981, chaired by the Lord Mayor. The first Chairman was R D Stringer (Director of the Parks and Recreations Department). Council later resolved (RoC 28 September 1991) to provide financial support to the Committee, and appears to have continued to provide support, including secretarial services, since then.

The objectives of the Committee (p3 of the Minutes of the inaugural meeting) are to develop and implement a strategy to market the central business district of Sydney so as to attract shoppers and visitors. Members attend as representatives of city business houses, and some City Council representatives (including Councillors) are also usually noted as in attendance (or providing apologies) at meetings.CreationInaugural meeting 8 July 1981 (established the Committee)
