Hortons had an exclusive agreement to market Kentia Palm seeds, plants and ferns imported from Lord Howe Island. A man crosses the road and a hansom cab is parked out the front of Cropley's Ltd shoe shop next door at 736 George Street. The three storey buildings were part of a row of terraces at 730–742 George Street, built in 1876. An inscription on the pediment reveals these were the City Buildings, but they were also known as Watkins Terrace.
